Smooth and continuous flow of oil is critical for the Economy of Kuwait and Mr.V.K.Ramakrishnan, 
General Manager, Warba Industrial Advanced Services Centre, is an expert in the field of safety valve, calibration and testing of flow control valves and equipments.
V.K.Ramakrishnan was born in Palakkad, India. His father was an employee of the Postal Department of Government of India. The presence in Kuwait of the Palakkad-born Ramakrishnan is a proof that excellent technical knowledge in your selected field of work can take you to places in your career.
Ramakrishnan completed B.Tech (Mechanical) from University of Calicut and was awarded Gold Medal by the University for his brilliant academic performance. He went on to complete his post-graduation in Production Technology from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai in 1976. His first job was with Instrumentation Limited, Palakkad and the next one with KSB, Coimbatore.
Ramakrishnan found his niche area when he was deputed as a technical member of UNIDO team to implement Fluid Control Research Institute (FCRI) at its project phase in 1983. It was a new area of research for India at that time and the institute has become one of six such institutes in the world for Research and Calibration/Test Laboratories and a center of excellence in flow measurement.
For a gold-medalist student who could grasp and understand complicated subjects virtually at a glance, the involvement with FCRI project was a golden opportunity to imbibe the new emerging technological advances in the field of calibration and testing of flow control. The knowledge he acquired during this period d formed the foundation for his skills. The varied work-experience gleaned over the years enabled him build a successful career upon it.
Ramakrishnan came to Kuwait in 2000 to join Warba Industrial Advance Service Center as Manager of the Supply & Services Certification Unit. With hard work, he built-up a reputation, both for himself and for his company.
He is now the General Manager of the company and his unit is the expert centre for relief and safety valves calibration and testing. It is the only certification centre in Kuwait and was the first in Middle-east. Almost all big names in the oil-sector of Kuwait are his clients.
Ramakrishnan is extremely self-confident and enjoys the challenges in his work. “Problems and challenges are an opportunity for you to test your skills and knowledge in finding a solution. When faced with a problem, a curious mind with scientific temperament would take pride in tackling and resolving the problem without running for assistance to someone every time “.
His point is well made. In a world where many may feel that learning how to ‘google’ is enough of an education, his perspective brings in a much needed emphasis on the importance of acquiring intellectual sharpness and knowledge if one were to be regarded as a professional.
He is known not only for his technical expertise, but also for his administrative capabilities and HR management. He focuses on ‘talent-building’ and enabling his staff and colleagues to manage things effectively on their own. Just as he handles management issues on his own without bothering his bosses, his staff too look at work challenges as a puzzle to be solved on their own and take pride in doing so.
Having found an excellent career line that is in perfect harmony with his talent and aptitude, Ramakrishnan is happy to get himself immersed in his field of work. “It is important for a professional person to always keep himself abreast of latest developments in science & technology and product innovations that is taking place in the world in his field”, says Mr.Ramakrishnan.
Personal life forms the icing on the cake of life for Ramakrishnan. Cricket and Badminton are his favourite past-time games. He is happily married to Padmini, a post-graduate in Management. Their daughter, Rohini, is in class 12th and is studying in Kovai. She is a talented dancer and makes her parents proud. Ramakrishnan also engages in spiritual pursuit, thus completing a pleasant and well-rounded personality.
