SEMINAR ON CAREERS IN ENGINEERING HELD AT ICSK AMMAN
A seminar on the career opportunities in the field of Engineering for the students of Class IX and X was held at the Indian Community School, Kuwait, Amman branch on 31st December, 2013. The speaker Dr. S Neelamani, a senior research scientist and program manager for the coastal management program KISR Kuwait, elaborated the scope and avenues of careers in engineering. He was welcomed and introduced by Mr. Rajesh Nair.C., Principal ICSK Amman Branch.
Dr. S Neelamani explained minute details about the various fields in Engineering. He outlined certain streams in engineering viz fire engineering, aquaculture engineering, food engineering to name a few, which were unknown to many. He explicitly explained to the students how to decide the subject of their choice by stressing on the academic scores in physics, chemistry, maths.
Dr. Neelamani introduced names of numerous institutes in India and abroad which offer undergraduate and post-graduate courses in Engineering. He also listed the names of various companies that recruit students depending on the streams they have chosen viz. NASA, Infosys, Microsoft, Apple etc for CSE students, companies like Boeing, etc for students pursuing aeronautical engineering and so on.
Many queries of students were answered satisfactorily and Dr. Neelamani also offered to help parents if they needed further clarification on any field of engineering.
Lastly, the vote of thanks for the session was proposed by Mrs. Jyoti SatishKumar.
On the whole, it was a very informative and interactive session wherein, students took active interest and participated in an enthusiastic manner to determine their appropriate career choice.
