ICSK JUNIOR COMMEMORATES GANDHI JAYANTI

“Generations to come will scarcely believe that such leaders walked on the earth in flesh and blood.”

On 2^nd October, India celebrates Gandhi Jayanti the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi; Father of the Nation who gave the world the invincible weapons of compassion, truth and non-violence and Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri the second Prime Minister of India.

ICSK Junior commemorated the birthday of two great nationalist leaders Gandhiji and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri in the first week of October 2015. Students adorned as nationalist leaders infusing feelings of intense nationalism, sense of pride, power and prestige for our motherland. Rendition of melodious song Raghupati Raghava Rajaram mellifluously mesmerized the audience. Presenting educative skit and placards, participants endorsed Gandhij’s life to the youth on his teachings. Little children enacted on Gandhiji’s message ‘Be the change you want to be’. Dancers, aptly dressed with colors of national flag performed to the tune of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Ma Tujhe Salam’.

The students recalled the contributions of the second Prime Minster of India Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. His selfless service and the unparalleled contribution to India’s freedom struggle were glorified. The significance of his slogan ‘Jai Jawan and Jai Kisan’ was recounted.

The school Principal in-charge, Mrs. Sherly Dennis, in her address on the occasion of 146^th birth anniversary of the Father of our Nation, spoke on Mahatma Gandhi's life and the importance of his teachings in our daily life. She futher advised the children to emulate values of Satya and Ahmisa, imbibe the virtues of ‘speak no evil, hear no evil and see no evil’. She reminded the audience on the dual significance of the day with due respect to 111^th iconic birth anniversary of Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri.
