WhatsApp Image 2023 08 12 at 6.10.36 PM 3 11zonBhavans Summer Camp 2023 proved to be a fun-filled summer break to cherish, learn, and grow. Under the guidance and leadership of the Chairman, Shri N.K. Ramachandran Menon, Camp Directors, Dr. Murugaiyan Subbarayalu, and Headmistress, Ms. Muneera Mammi Kutty, the Bhavans Summer Camp, conducted in two batches between June 18 and August 10, 2023, was a remarkable success. Their collective vision and dedication played a pivotal role in the planning and execution of the camp, ensuring a diverse range of activities and a safe, enriching environment for all participants.

Chairman Shri. Ramachandran’s strategic direction, Mr. Murugaiya’s meticulous planning, and Mrs. Muneera’s educational expertise combined to create a holistic development experience for the children. From arts and crafts, sports, music, and dance to unique activities like needlework, crochet, embroidery, and quilling, to exciting special activities like cooking without fire, public speaking, making the best out of waste, etc. These activities were carefully curated not only to entertain but also to foster creativity, teamwork, and leadership skills among the participants. Under their leadership, the camp was supervised by a team of experienced and caring staff who were committed to the well-being of the children.

Children of all age groups from different Indian schools across Kuwait participated in the camp, interacting with peers from diverse backgrounds. This interaction led to the formation of new friendships and the creation of lasting memories. The camp was held in the spacious and well-equipped premises of Bhavans Smart Indian School, Jleeb, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all participants.

In addition to the regular activities, the camp also included field trips that provided the children with unique learning experiences. Two of the most memorable trips were to a bookstore in Salmiya called The Better Books and the KDD Factory in Subhan.

The visit to the bookstore was a treat for the young bibliophiles. The children were introduced to a wide range of books across various genres by the Founder and owner, Ms. Maxien. They were encouraged to explore the different sections of the store, pick up books of their interest, and read a few lines or pages. This trip aimed to foster a love for reading among the children and expose them to the joy of discovering new stories and ideas. The most exciting part of the store for the children were the resident cats; they couldn't get enough of their new-found furry friends.

The trip to the KDD factory was equally enlightening. The children were given a tour of the factory, where they learned about the process of production of milk and milk products like cream, yogurt, and ice cream, along with other FMCG products like Fruit Juices, etc. They also learned about the processing, packaging, storage, and distribution of the same. They were shown the stringent measures taken to ensure the FMCG products we consume on a daily basis are safe and healthy. This trip not only educated the children about the source of the food products used on a daily basis but also gave them an insight into the workings of a large-scale industry.

Both field trips were supervised by the camp staff, and safety measures were strictly adhered to. The children were also briefed about the importance of behaving responsibly during these trips. These field trips were not just about learning outside the classroom but also about making learning fun and interactive.

An art competition and workshop sponsored by UHU and JOVI were also organized as a special event, giving children a platform to showcase their talents and win exciting prizes.

The camp, open to all school kids from Pre KG to class 8, offered a variety of sporting activities like swimming, badminton, football, basketball, and volleyball, and was a resounding success. The Sports Department of Bhavans played a crucial role in the success of the camp. With a team of dedicated and experienced coaches, the department ensured that each sport was taught with precision and passion. The coaches not only focused on the technical aspects of each sport but also instilled values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline in the participants.

The badminton court was a flurry of activities with children honing their skills and learning the nuances of the game. The football field echoed with cheers and strategies as teams battled it out for the top spot. The basketball and volleyball courts were equally bustling with energy and enthusiasm. Adding a fun twist to fitness, the Sports Department also organized Zumba and aerobics sessions. These sessions were a hit among the students, boosting their fitness levels and spirits.

One of the highlights of the camp was swimming, it was a splash hit. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, the children learned not only the basics of swimming but also the importance of sportsmanship with participants improving their strokes and learning teamwork in relay races. The kids showed significant improvement in their swimming skills, and the feedback from parents and students was overwhelmingly positive.

The talent show was one of the highlights of Bhavans Summer Camp 2023. It was an event that allowed the children to showcase their unique talents and creativity. The show was open to all participants of the camp, providing them with a platform to express themselves in front of their peers and the camp staff. It included a variety of performances ranging from singing, dancing, magic tricks, public speaking, and instrumental music. The diversity of the performances was a testament to the wide range of talents among the children.

This fun event was not just about competition but also about encouraging the children to step out of their comfort zones and share their passions. It was also an opportunity for them to gain confidence and improve their performance skills. Every child was awarded a certificate appreciating their performance, effort, and courage during the camp. The talent show at Bhavans Summer Camp 2023 was a memorable event that celebrated the unique talents of each child and created lasting memories.

Children were taught the basics of needlework, crochet, and quilling. They were encouraged to create their own designs, allowing them to express their creativity and individuality. The children's creations were then showcased in their personal scrapbooks. These scrapbooks served as a record of their work, allowing them to take pride in their creations and share them with their friends and family. The scrapbooks are also a wonderful keepsake, a tangible reminder of the skills they learned and the fun they had at the camp.

The arts and crafts segment of the camp aimed at fostering creativity and fine motor skills among the children. The inclusion of such activities in the camp program reflects Bhavans' commitment to providing the children with an opportunity to grow and make them self-sufficient in all walks of life. It was a great way for the children to learn new skills, express their creativity, and create lasting memories.

The Bhavans Summer Camp 2023 was more than just a camp. Students truly immersed themselves in the activities and they had an amazing time. The students learned so much and they also taught their facilitators much about laughter, hope, and energy. They certainly had a lot of fun to go around! The chairman and camp directors expressed their gratitude to all the facilitators and supporting staff for their commitment towards creating opportunities for the campers. The objectives of the camp stood by the ‘Mission and Vision’ of the school, which focused on and nurtured the physical, intellectual, and emotional growth of children. The success of the camp is a testament to Bhavans' commitment to providing quality education and development opportunities for children. It was a memorable one for the children, teenagers, and all the staff. The success of this year's camp has set a high bar for future camps, and Bhavans looks forward to hosting more such engaging and enriching events.
