Where Innovation meets Competition’

258A0012In an extraordinary showcase of youthful brilliance, Gulf Indian School Kuwait proudly hosted "TECHATHON-23" on September 6, 2023, an unprecedented inter-school IT contest uniting students from 15 schools.

The event commenced with Mrs. Sofi Varghese, Principal (KG & Primary) delivering the welcome speech and Dr. S. Prashant Vasudev, the esteemed Principal of Gulf Indian School, inaugurating the proceedings by logging onto TECHATHON 2023. His support and encouragement set the stage for what would be a day filled with excitement, learning, and remarkable achievements. Leading this exceptional event with utmost efficiency was Mr. Facin Mathai, HOD-Computer Science and Vice Principal (Intermediate), who skillfully oversaw all facets, guaranteeing the flawless execution of TECHATHON-23.

As the competition unfolded, students engaged in fierce battles of intellect in four distinct segments. The distinguished panel of judges, including Mr. Lijesh Paul, Regional Manager at TRACOMS, and Mrs. Nisha Joseph, Senior Architect at Pace Consulting Company, Kuwait, ensured a professional and impartial assessment of the participants' performances, elevating the standards of "TECHATHON-23."

A Glimpse into Techathon-23

 1.  WHIZZ-KID:  Young prodigies from classes 5 and 6 demonstrated their IT knowledge in  an exhilarating quiz. With rounds covering inventors, technologies, trends, and more, these young minds proved their mettle. The prestigious title of TECH QUIZ CHAMPION was secured by New Gulf Indian School, claiming the first position. Indian School of Excellence emerged as the TECH TITANS, securing the runner-up position. The title of QUIZ MAESTRO, the third position, was earned by Indian Community School Kuwait Amman Branch.

 2.  SLIDE  MAESTRO:  Teams of students from classes 7 and 8 showcased their visual  design, creativity, and presentation skills by developing PowerPoint presentations. The coveted title of PRESENTATION PICASSO went to Indian Community School, Kuwait Senior Branch, securing the first position. Delhi Public School, Kuwait, earned the title of SLIDE STYLIST as the runner- up. Gulf Indian School, Kuwait, claimed the third position with the title of  SLIDE DESIGN DYNAMO. A Special Appreciation award was bestowed upon the student participants of Indian Community School Kuwait, Amman Branch, for their outstanding performance in Slide Maestro.

 3. CATCH THE WORD:  This segment challenged participants' communication and word-decoding abilities through a series of yes-or-no questions, all within the strict time constraints. The titled winner was Indian Community School, Kuwait Senior Branch,  achieving  the first position as CODE WORDSMITH SUPREME. Integrated Indian School,  Kuwait, earned the title of WORD WIZARD as the runners-up. Indian Educational School, Kuwait, secured the third position with the title of WORD DETECTIVE.

 4.DESIG NER  PRO:  The contest saw teams of students from classes 11 and 12 tackle complex problems  by  creating  innovative  models  to  provide  practical  solutions.  Indian  Community School, Kuwait Khaitan Branch, clinched the first position with the title of  CODING DESIGN

VIRTUOSO. The runners-up, Indian English Academy School, Kuwait, were titled CODING DESIGN EXPERTS. Indian Learners Own Academy secured the third position with the title of DESIGNER PRO. A Special Appreciation award was presented to the student participants of United Indian School, Kuwait, for their exceptional performance as Coding Designers.

Individual medals and certificates were distributed to each participant in the respective groups including the participants in the AI Exhibition.

The distribution of awards was overseen by Dr. S. Prashant Vasudev, the Principal of GIS Kuwait, along with the presence of Mr. Lijesh Paul and Mrs. Nisha Joseph. Mrs. Kalllianikutty Rajan, the Vice Principal of GIS, expressed her gratitude in a vote of thanks to all the participants whose contributions were pivotal in making TECHATHON-23 a resounding success.

"TECHATHON-23" was nothing short of an intellectual battle, designed to test knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills across various IT disciplines. It was a day where innovation met competition, sparking a passion for technology and leaving an indelible mark in the world of digital innovation.
