 A Diplomatic Triumph Hosted by IES Bhavans Kuwait 

453A7004 The tenth edition of Bhavans Model United Nations, a momentous event, was convened at Indian Education School Bhavans Kuwait on its virtual platform on October 28, 2023. A total of 90 delegates, from grades 8 to 12 along with their faculty members, represented 15 schools from the Middle East in the event. The event was well coordinated by Ms. Hajira Banu, Head of the Department of Social Studies, Mr. Nagarajan Murugesh, and Mr. Binu James, the faculty members of the Department of Social Studies. 

The day's proceedings commenced with the lighting of the lamp, followed by the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran, the UN prayer, and the Kuwait National Anthem. Fida Ancy and Zara Imtiyaz Mahadiwala warmly welcomed the distinguished chief guest, Mr. T. Premkumar, the Principal of Indian Educational School, Kuwait, as well as other distinguished dignitaries and the delegates of BMUN 2023. During his inaugural speech, Mr. T. Premkumar extended a warm welcome to all the delegates and faculty advisors from various schools. In his enlightening address, he emphasized the significance of Model United Nations (MUN) in today's world for problem-solving and peace maintenance. His thought-provoking speech had provided valuable guidance to the students on the path to becoming exceptional diplomats. Mr. T. Premkumar also encouraged healthy debate and expressed heartfelt wishes for the success of all participants in the event. The occasion was further dignified by the presence of the Vice Principals of IES, Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar and Mr. Binoy Mathew. 

Bhavans Model United Nations 2023 was in the capable hands of Zara Imtiyanz Mahadiwala, who served as the General Secretary, overseeing the smooth flow of proceedings. The United Nations General Assembly, specifically the DISEC committee, delved into the critical issue of "Small and Light Weapons: Threat to World Peace" under the leadership of Manha Aneesh. Simultaneously, the United Nations Security Council tackled the pressing matter of the "Russia and Ukraine Conflict" with Fida Ancy at its helm. The United Nations Human Rights Council, led by Abhipsa Panda, focused on the agenda of "Investigative Studies and Addressing Human Rights Violations." These committees and their respective agendas played a vital role in the healthy debate, comprehensive discussions and problem-solving efforts during the event. The formalities of the valedictory function commenced at 5:00 p.m. The outcomes and results were announced by the committee heads, while the event was masterfully hosted by Nakshatra Neeraja Binu, who took on the role of emcee for the day. 

Concluding on a note of gratitude, Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice-Principal of IES, expressed her sincere appreciation to Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman of Bhavans Middle East, for his unwavering support and invaluable guidance. She also extended her heartfelt thanks to the esteemed guest of honor, Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal of IES Kuwait, for his steadfast support and assistance, which significantly contributed to the smooth and fruitful execution of the event. With an overwhelming sense of joy and pride, BMUN 2023 came to an official adjournment, paving the way for deep contemplation on the sensitive issues and those yet to be explored at BMUN 2024.
