Career Guidance Session on Higher Education Abroad at IES, Kuwait 

453A6755In an effort to provide students with the necessary guidance and insights into pursuing higher education abroad, the Department of Psychology at Indian Educational School organized a comprehensive career guidance session on October 28, 2023. The session aimed to equip students with the information needed to make informed decisions about their future academic pursuits and career goals. 

The event was graced by Mr. T. Premkumar, the Principal, who warmly welcomed both parents and students. In his welcome address he underscored the long-standing collaboration between the school and IDP (International Development Program), which has proven instrumental in helping students select universities abroad and embark on successful careers worldwide. 

The session featured esteemed representatives from IDP, including Ms. Sujata Vohra, Company Director, Ms. Manju Bhagyaraj, Asst. Manager for Student Placement, and Ms. Saima, the resource person. Ms. Saima initiated the session by highlighting the myriad advantages of seeking higher education abroad. These advantages encompassed developing better employment skills, fostering independence, enhancing communication skills, expanding social networks, intellectual growth, time management skills, and self-discovery as students become more accountable for their choices. 

Ms. Saima utilized multimedia presentations, including PowerPoint slides and videos, to showcase a variety of career options in fields such as Engineering, Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, Business and Commerce, and Arts and Humanities. She also provided in-depth information on emerging courses like Mechatronics, Biotechnology, Cybersecurity, Robotics, Aeronautical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, and Liberal Arts. In addition, Ms. Saima elucidated prerequisite subjects and potential career opportunities upon course completion. 

The session delved into the specifics of pursuing a medical career in countries like Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Ireland. Attendees were given insights into the annual tuition fees and associated expenses when pursuing undergraduate studies in these countries. Additionally, Ms. Saima outlined application deadlines, university admission requirements, accommodation facilities, and necessary documentation. 

The presentation also elucidated the distinctions between IELTS Academic and IELTS UKVI Academic, along with their respective test formats, providing students with a clear understanding of language proficiency requirements. 

Furthermore, the participants had the opportunity to address their queries related to higher education abroad, as Ms. Sujata Vohra efficiently responded to their queries. Mr. T. Premkumar, the Principal also clarified the parents' questions on topics such as NEET, the recognition of international courses in India, and CBSE's affiliations with foreign universities, which allow for credit transfers and exempting CBSE students from taking IELTS tests in a few selected US universities.  

In closing, the principal extended his heartfelt appreciation to IDP for delivering an impeccable session that promises to be immensely beneficial in helping high school students map their academic journey. He also expressed his gratitude to the parents for their unwavering support. The career guidance session proved to be a valuable resource for students and parents alike, providing them with valuable insights into the possibilities and challenges of pursuing higher education abroad.
