From Trash to Treasure – Interhouse Wealth Out of Waste Competition at The Indian Community School, Senior
Recycling transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.
The Indian Community School Senior held an Interbranch competition titled ‘Wealth Out of Waste’ on Thursday, 17th October 2024, for students of grades V to VIII. This event aimed to inspire participants to create innovative solutions by repurposing waste materials into valuable products, promoting sustainable practices and contributing to a circular economy. The competition attracted a diverse group of enthusiastic students from various branches of the Indian Community School, Kuwait.
A total of 150 budding artists participated in 40 teams, each consisting of two to four members, showcasing their creativity, talent, and imagination. The event was inaugurated by Mrs. Mini Shaji Joseph, Deputy Vice Principal of ICSK Senior. Participants were challenged to develop innovative products from waste materials, demonstrating their creative abilities and raising awareness about global issues. Each team had one minute to present the significance of their product in promoting sustainability and a circular economy.
Under category 1 for classes V and VI, first prize was bagged by The Indian Community School, Khaitan (Jeron Jacob Rubin, Allen Wood, Lana Farheen, Mehanoor Mariyam), The Indian Community School, Amman (Mysha Nasif, Nia Elsa Pramod, Sahiti Elisetty, Anam Omer Karim) secured the second position followed by The Indian Community School, Khaitan (Zaid Ahmed, Adil Yahaan, Abhishek Meethale, Shezad Rahman) in the third position.
Under category 2 for classes VII and VIII, the coveted first position was bagged by The Indian Community School, Amman (Hannah Susan John, Sarah Jibu Joy, Shikha Wagle, Agnes Joji) followed by The Indian Community School, Amman – Rosann Binoj, Irene Amrithanaj Andrew, Leonel Binnet Chacko) bagging the second position and The Indian Community School, Khaitan (Salman Al Faris, Muhammed Sufyan, Affan Ahmed, Alexander Abraham) secured the third position.
Dr. V. Binumon, Principal and Senior Administrator of ICSK appreciated the winners with prizes and certificates. This event successfully showcased the innovative capabilities of students while emphasizing the importance of sustainability and environmental responsibility. It inspired participants to transform everyday waste into usable materials.
