GIS - Techathon - Inter school competition 2024
TECHATHON’24
Gulf Indian School organized an inter-school IT Competition titled TECHATHON’24 on 11 November 2024. The event commenced at 8.30 AM and concluded at 1 PM. Students from17 schools all over Kuwait participated enthusiastically. The guests of the day were Mrs. Swathi Garg, Mrs. Teresa Levin, Mrs. Liny Joy, Mr. Nithin Girishan and Mr. Sam Abraham Thomas who also served as judges of various competitions titled – Colour clash, Slide Maestro, Scratch Mavens, Web Weavers Duel and AI Horizon.
The competition featured diverse categories designed to challenge different skill sets. Color Clash tested the 3D Paint skills of students in classes 3 and 4, while Slide Maestro assessed presentation mastery among classes 5 and 6 in PowerPoint. Classes 7 and 8 displayed their game design abilities in Scratch Mavens, and classes 9 to 11 engaged in a dynamic Web Weavers Duel, a web design face-off highlighting their creativity and technical skills.
A highlight of the event was the AI Horizon exhibition, which captivated attendees with both working and still models of AI components. This immersive experience provided students and visitors with an inspiring glimpse into the future of artificial intelligence.
The event began with a formal introduction in which the overwhelming response from various schools during the past year’s ‘Techathon’ was recalled fondly. The huge response received in the previous year encouraged the organizers to make extensive arrangement for Techathon’24 and resulted in the induction of class 3 category. Followed by this was a welcome speech wherein the judges were honoured and introduced to the audience. A spectacular Robotic dance was performed by class 12 students which invigorated the ambience and entertained the young aspirants. Principal Dr Prashant Vasudev addressed the gathering and in his speech he appreciated the students for their enthusiastic participation and emphasized the importance of taking part in such contests. He further added that such events help students in solving the real-world problems, to think creatively and to tackle new challenges as they move forward in life. Mr. Facin A Mathai, the event coordinator, vice principal - intermediate, HOD IT Department invited the Principal to inaugurate the event and officially login to TECHATHON’24. The participants from class 3 to class 12 displayed their skills and talents thereby putting up a fierce digital competence.
The concluding session began by inviting all the participants back to the auditorium and congratulating every one for their passionate participation. This was followed by the announcement of the results and awarding the winners with trophies and medals. Every participant was given a beautiful hand - crafted robot as a gesture of appreciation. Finally, the Cultural Secretary of GIS, Brightly Mary Litton delivered the Vote of Thanks mentioning the collective effort made by the members of IT Department and the earnest involvement by all the other staff of GIS.
