The Indian Community School, Kuwait successfully hosted the 19th Mega Carnival on Friday, 24th January 2025 at the ICSK Senior Campus. The much – awaited event was a grand celebration of culture, entertainment and charity. It attracted thousands of attendees from across Kuwait to enjoy the day packed with vibrant activities, thrilling performances and the joy of togetherness. The ICSK campus transformed into a bustling hub of activities, radiating an atmosphere of excitement and festivities.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. Said Maamar, Deputy Director and Attache Academic, Embassy of France; Guest of Honour, Dr. Shaker Hamzah Alhazeem, Research Director, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research; and Special Guest, Mr. Vignesh Pande, India’s Laughter Champion, Ventriloquist, Actor, Anchor and Singer. Among the dignitaries were Mr. Shaikh Abdul Rahiman, Hon. Chairman to the Board of Trustees, Mr. Vinukumar Nair, Hon. Vice Chairman to the Board of Trustees, Mr. Azharuddin Amer Muhammed, Hon. Secretary to the Board of Trustees, Mr. Sunkara Raju, Hon. Treasurer to the Board of Trustees, Fr. James Tuscano, SDB, Principal of Indian English Academy School, Mrs. K.R Rajalakshmi, Principal of Jabriya Indian school, Dr. V. Binumon, Principal and Senior Administrator of ICSK, K. Gangadhar Shirsath, Principal of ICSK, Khaitan, Mr. Rajesh Nair, Principal of ICSK, Amman, Mrs. Sherly Dennis, Director of The Indian School of Excellence and Mrs. C. Sheeja, Principal of ICSK, Junior and Vice Principals of ICSK Branches.
The carnival began with a grand inauguration ceremony, setting the tone for the day’s lively events. The ceremony commenced with recitation of verses from the holy Quran by Mst. Farhan. The gathering honored the national anthems of Kuwait and India. Dr. V. Binumon, the Principal and Senior Administrator of ICSK, delivered a warm and heartfelt welcome address to the distinguished gathering. In his speech, Dr. Binumon emphasized the significance of organizing such events, stating that while academic excellence is a key priority, the school also focuses on fostering cultural and artistic values among students. He highlighted the institution’s commitment to nurturing a positive growth mindset in its students.
The audience was further captivated by a vibrant group song performed by the school choir, Swaranjali. The melodious performance set the stage for the cultural extravaganza that was to follow.
The esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Said Maamar, expressed his immense joy and honor at being part of the celebration. In his inspiring address, he commended ICSK for its noble initiative. He also spoke about the special relationship shared by India and France, underlining the importance of cultural exchange and collaboration. As a token of appreciation, he was presented with a memento by Mr. Shaikh Abdul Rahiman, the Honorable Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
The Guest of Honour, Dr. Shaker Hamzah Alhazeem, shared his delight at attending the carnival. In his speech, he encouraged students to embrace lifelong learning as a key to success. He was presented with a memento by Mr. Azharuddin Amer Muhammed, Hon. Secretary to the Board of Trustees.
The Special Guest, Mr. Vignesh Pande, a renowned ventriloquist, actor, anchor and singer from India reminisced about his own school days, appreciating the students’ performances and expressing gratitude for the invitation. He, too, was honored with a memento by the Honorable Chairman to the Board of Trustees, Mr. Shaikh Abdul Rahiman.
The 19th Mega Carnival of The Indian Community School, Kuwait was officially inaugurated by the esteemed Chief Guest and Guest of Honour. The dazzling lights, vibrant colors and thunderous applause from the audience added to the celebratory ambiance. The event truly came alive with a spectacular cultural performance on the theme ‘To Infinity and Beyond’ by the students of ICSK Amman. This visually stunning presentation left the audience mesmerized and offered a glimpse into the creativity and talent nurtured within the school.
The school recognized the invaluable contributions of its sponsors, who played a vital role in ensuring the success of the event. Each sponsor was presented with a memento by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour as a gesture of gratitude.
A significant highlight of the ceremony was the release of the official Carnival Souvenir by Mr. Vinukumar Nair, the Hon. Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees. This special moment marked the importance of the occasion and provided a lasting memory of the event. Vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Rajesh Nair, Principal of ICSK, Amman drew curtains to the inaugural ceremony and stated the commencement of a day filled with fun, frolic and community bonding.
The event featured a stellar lineup of 40 different performances including musical extravaganza, comedy show, dazzling dance performance like Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Punjabi dance, Thanoora Dance, Arabic Dance, Taal Fusion and numerous Bollywood, cinematic and folk dances. Adding a touch of wonder, a mesmerizing magic show enthralled the crowd, holding their attention with spellbinding tricks and captivating moments.
Gifted star entertainers were specially brought in from India to enrich the celebration. Vignesh Pande, celebrated as India’s laughter champion and a multitalented entertainer, brought an infectious energy to the event. With his entertaining ventriloquism and humorous skits, he had the audience roaring with laughter. His witty delivery, combined with his unique ability to bring puppets to life, showcased his versatile talent, spreading joy and leaving a lasting impression on the crowd.
DJ Venz, Rising Star from India, took the energy of the event to new heights with his electrifying DJ sessions held in the auditorium exclusively for the youngsters. Known for his dynamic style and pulse-pounding beats, he delivered an unforgettable mix of high-energy tracks that had the crowd dancing non-stop.
The carnival offered something for everyone. Family Fashion Show and Mehandi Contest brought families and individuals together to showcase their creativity and cultural pride. Family Fashion Show became a delightful spectacle of style and togetherness, while the Mehandi Contest highlighted intricate artistry, with participants creating stunning henna designs that celebrated tradition and beauty. Interactive activities like games, talent shows, quizzes and on-the-spot contests, kept the crowd engaged and entertained.
The event also featured 21 gourmet food stalls, offering an array of international cuisines that delighted food lovers. Additionally, 30 shopping stalls showcased an assortment of clothing, accessories, handicrafts and unique gifts, catering to the diverse tastes of the visitors. The vibrant market place buzzed with excitement, appealing to shoppers of all tastes and preferences.
The ICSK campus witnessed an overwhelming response, with more than 20000 visitors joining the celebration. The lively atmosphere, coupled with the extensive lineup of activities and performances, created an unforgettable experience. The digital raffle draw was one of the most anticipated moments of the event, with attendees eagerly awaiting the announcement of winners. Fabulous prizes, including five flight tickets to and fro Kuwait and India, added an air of excitement and anticipation that kept the crowd buzzing with enthusiasm.
As the day drew to a close, Akky, a renowned water and fire drumming specialist from India, captivated the audience with his breathtaking and visually stunning performances. Combining the elements of water and fire into his rhythmic art, he created a multisensory experience that left the crowd awestruck.
The closing ceremony was graced by a spectacular cultural performance by the talented students of The Indian School of Excellence. Their high-energy performance captivated the lively audience, leaving everyone in awe.
The carnival was not just about fun and entertainment; it was a charity-driven initiative aimed at creating ‘Students' Welfare Fund’. The funds raised during the event will support the education of economically disadvantaged students, empowering them to overcome financial barriers and pursue their academic dreams. This noble cause added a deeper purpose to the day’s festivities, uniting the community for a meaningful goal.
The 19th Mega Carnival at ICSK was a resounding success, bringing together people of all ages to enjoy a day filled with fun, culture and purpose. It not only strengthened the bonds within the community but also reinforced ICSK’s commitment to supporting education and empowering the underprivileged.
