Gulf Indian School successfully hosted the 27th CBSE Kuwait Cluster Athletic Meet for the 2025-26 academic year, an event that highlighted the athletic prowess of young students from Indian schools throughout Kuwait. Held from April 29th to May 1st, 2025, at the Al Sahel Sports Club in Abu Halifa, the event was expertly organised under the leadership of Dr. Prashant Vasudev, the Convenor of the CBSE Kuwait Chapter and Principal of Gulf Indian School, with strong support from principals of various Indian schools in Kuwait.
The occasion was graced by distinguished attendees, including Mr. Ravi Ayanoli, Chairman of CBSE Gulf Sahodaya and Principal of Fahaheel Al-Watanieh Indian Private School; Dr. V. Binumon, Former Chairman of CBSE Gulf Sahodaya and Principal of Indian Community School; Mrs. Asha Sharma, Former Chairperson of CBSE Gulf Sahodaya and Principal of Indian Learners Own Academy; Dr. Anis Ahmed, Director cum Principal of Salmiya Indian Model School; along with several other prominent principals representing various CBSE Indian schools.
The principals of the organising committee officiated the inaugural and valedictory functions of the three-day event with grandeur and enthusiasm. The subsequent ceremony showcased an elegant march-past led by students, advancing in harmonious alignment to a vibrant, rhythmic beat. The Kuwait chapter cluster flag was then hoisted by the dignitaries followed by the National Anthem of
Kuwait. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the school prayer. Aliza Elsa Vipson, Sports Captain of GIS, administered the oath to athletes representing 21 Indian Schools in Kuwait.
Mr. Ravi Ayanoli, Chairman of CBSE Gulf Sahodaya and Principal of Fahaheel Al-Watanieh Indian Private School expressed gratitude to all those who were present. While addressing the gathering, he highlighted the significance of teamwork in sports and extended his heartfelt wishes to all the participants. In his eloquent address, Dr. Prashant Vasudev, the Convenor of the CBSE Kuwait Chapter and Principal of Gulf Indian School emphasized the crucial role of sports in character development, imploring athletes to embrace both victory and failure graciously. As his speech concluded, a collective release of balloons by all the dignitaries painted the sky, symbolising the soaring aspirations and boundless potential of the young athletes.
The meet featured a wide array of track and field events, including long jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, triple jump, and relay races such as the 100 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 1000 meters etc. Athletes from various age groups, representing Indian schools across the country, competed with determination, each striving to achieve personal bests and bring honour to their respective schools.
