Kuwait Tug of War Team from IES Flagged Off for 15th Asian Championship 2025

453A2418 11zonJleeb AlShyoukh, October 23, 2025: With immense pride and excitement, the Kuwait Tug of War Team from Indian Educational School, Bhavans Kuwait, representing the NRI Tug of War Federation, Kuwait, was officially flagged off for the 15th Asian Tug of War Championship 2025, to be held in Langkawi, Malaysia. The grand send-off ceremony celebrated teamwork, sportsmanship, and national pride in a lively and spirited atmosphere.

The event commenced with the arrival of dignitaries and special guests, followed by the stirring rendition of the Kuwait National Anthem, which filled the venue with emotion and pride. A warm Welcome Address acknowledged the efforts of individuals and organisations working to promote Tug of War in Kuwait and nurture young sporting talent.

Dr. Murugaiyan S., Team Manager and Head of the Physical Education Department at the Indian Educational School, introduced the 18-member squad representing Kuwait: Ahmed Hamza Idris, Suhaan Krishna Gupta, Rishi Rakesh Reghunathan, Advaith Rajagopal, Rithik Satheesh, Arjun Nair, Pradwid Krishna Shaji, Shahnawaz Pavne, Rishieswar Sai Muppavara, Sachin Karunanithi, Yusuf Ridwan Bade, Gnaneswar Reddy Akepati, Kevin Tony Zachariah, Pranith Kumar Cheruku, Waseem Ansar Theparambil, Abhiram Jay Krishnan, Jerome Jeril, and Pranav Sheethal Nambiar. The team is coached by Mr. D. K. Dilip Nair, General Secretary of the NRI Tug of War Federation, Kuwait.

Dr. Murugaiyan expressed gratitude to Chairman Shri N. K. Ramachandran Menon and Principal Mr. Anand Victor for their support in creating international exposure opportunities for students. He also appreciated the tireless encouragement from parents, staff, and the NRI Federation for making the initiative possible.

Dignitaries were felicitated for their contributions to sports development. Mr. Dominic, Joint Secretary of the NRI Federation Kuwait, delivered an inspiring address, commending the organisers’ dedication and wishing the players success in Malaysia.

A special message from Mr. D. K. Dileep, General Secretary of the NRI Tug of War Federation Kuwait, encouraged athletes to uphold unity, perseverance, and fair play.The presence of Mr. Vijesh, Executive Member of the Federation, further energised the young athletes.

Shri N. K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman of Bhavans Middle East, delivered an inspiring message, reminding players that true sportsmanship lies not only in winning but in participation, learning, and camaraderie. He urged them to play with passion, represent Kuwait with pride, and return safely after a fulfilling experience.

The highlight of the day came as the Chairman, Principal, and distinguished guests waved the Kuwait National Flag, marking the team’s official departure to the championship. The moment was met with thunderous applause and cheers, symbolizing national pride and the hopes of a community united behind its athletes.

Mr. Jojimon Thomas, General Convenor of Thanima, also attended the event, extending best wishes to the team and commending the remarkable collaboration behind the initiative. Principal Mr. Anand Victor, Vice Principals Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, Ms. Hima, and Mr. Liju, and Headmistress Ms. Muneera Mammikutty joined in congratulating the players and wishing them success and a safe journey.
