On the delightful evening of 20 December 2025, Gulf Indian School marked a significant milestone as it bid adieu to the illustrious batch of 2025-2026 during a valedictory ceremony overflowing with nostalgia, elegance, and heartfelt sentiments. The event unfolded like a beautifully interlaced tapestry of memories, symbolizing the conclusion of one chapter and the commencement of a bright new journey.
The ceremony commenced with a grand procession of valedictorians, led by the Chief Guest Mr Sanjay Kumar Muluka, Deputy Chief of Mission to the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, accompanied by the Guest of Honour Mr. Sreekumar Pillai, Manager of Gulf Indian School, and Dr Soumya R. Shetty, ENT Specialist at Salmiya Clinic. Other esteemed Special Guests included Mr. Gangadhar Shirsath, Principal of The Indian Community School in Kuwait, Dr Saleem Kundungal, Principal of India International School in Kuwait, Mr Anand Victor, Principal of Indian Educational School in Kuwait, Mr. Anoop Kumar Sharma, Principal of New Gulf Indian School in Kuwait, Mrs Sajitha Menon, Principal of Salmiya Indian Model School in Kuwait, Mrs Ambika Sreekumar, Vice Principal of New Gulf Indian School, Dr Prashant Vasudev, Principal of Gulf Indian School, along with the Vice Principals. The valedictorians, dressed in their finest garments and radiating confidence, gracefully proceeded down the aisle to take their esteemed seats, embodying the true essence of the evening and marking the beginning of a truly unforgettable celebration. In a moment rich with symbolism, the Lighting of the Lamp brightened the venue, representing the everlasting quest for wisdom and enlightenment. A significant highlight of the evening was a prayer song sung by Principal Dr Prashant Vasudev and a handful of teachers.
The GIS students captivated the audience with their musical rendition of the Indian Version of Country Roads, which was preceded by a welcome address from the Head Boy, Christy Jophy. A moment of deep insight emerged as Principal Dr Prashant Vasudev stepped onto the stage, his words filled with encouragement and limitless hope, inspiring the graduating class to approach all aspects of life with determination. He emphasized the importance of optimism and kindness. Additionally, he reminded the students that the world requires leaders like them and bid them farewell, assuring them that GIS will always be their home. He encouraged them to hold onto happy memories and wrapped up his speech with a poem that stirred fond memories for
each and every graduate. The esteemed guests, symbols of inspiration, were subsequently presented with bouquets and mementos—a modest acknowledgement of their presence and guidance. Incorporating a hint of nostalgia, 'The Yearbook', a compilation of beloved memories and friendships, was launched by the students, prompting a surge of reminiscence.
A treasured moment of the evening was the Honouring of the GIS staff who have dedicated 30 years of selfless service. The atmosphere was filled with a profound energy as the esteemed guest, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Muluka, presented a speech rich in inspiration and insight. His eloquent words struck a chord, steering the young graduates toward a future full of hope and potential. The Prasang Vashishtha Charitable Trust Awards were bestowed upon many graduating students for their remarkable academic excellence and positive contributions to the school society. Applause echoed through the hall as the Special Awards were bestowed upon students, recognising their stellar achievements, talents and exemplary attributes.
Following this, the moment everyone had been eagerly looking forward to, the Convocation Ceremony unfolded, as each student, overflowing with pride and reminiscence, stepped onto the stage to obtain their certificate, memento, scroll, trinket of love and a warm message from the Principal and the distinguished guests. The air became charged with depth as the special guest, Mr Gangadhar Shirsath, delivered a speech woven with inspiration and wisdom. His words resonated deeply, guiding the young graduates toward a future brimming with promise and possibility. A video presentation showcased the departing students as they expressed their reflections and memories from their time at Gulf Indian School. They candidly shared their heartfelt experiences regarding the enjoyable moments they had during their schooling.
The champions of sports who have contributed to the school's pride and honour through their outstanding performance at the Kuwait Cluster Meet were acknowledged. The excitement reached new heights as Christy Jophy, the esteemed Mr GIS, stepped onto the stage, presenting a sincere speech brimming with gratitude and reflections. Nanda Prasad, our treasured Miss GIS, then took her turn, offering her own expressions of appreciation and insight. Lastly, Lia Reba Mathew, honoured with the prestigious Crowning Glory title, illuminated the platform with her reflections on the transformative journey experienced within the supportive environment of the school. The event was then highlighted by an enchanting dance performance delivered by the graduating students.
The ceremony concluded on a touching note with the Vote of Thanks, a sincere acknowledgement of appreciation directed towards all those who played a role in ensuring the evening's resounding success. This significant gesture was articulately presented by the Vice Principal Mrs Kala Rajan, who recognised the collaborative effort and support that made the event possible.
As the curtains descended on this magnificent occasion, emotions ran high, with hearts filled with pride and eyes glistening with unshed tears. The cohort of 2025 - 2026, now standing at the brink of limitless opportunities, leaves behind imprints in the sands of time, taking with them the treasured memories, insights and essence of Gulf Indian School—a place they will eternally regard as home.
