Stargazing Families: Indian School of Excellence Astronomy Club Brings the Moon Closer to Home
"The Moon, with all its phases, reminds us that learning is a journey of constant discovery."
The Astronomy Club of the Indian School of Excellence successfully organized a Telescopic Viewing Session on the evening of 25 May 2026 at the school premises. The event brought together Astronomy Club members and their parents for an enriching experience of celestial observation, fostering both scientific curiosity and family engagement.
Equipped with high-powered telescopes strategically positioned across the viewing area, participants were treated to spectacular close-up views of the Moon. Many experienced astronomical observations through a telescope for the first time, gaining a remarkable perspective of the lunar surface, including its prominent craters, expansive plains, and rugged terrain. With the valuable support of Mystery Domes, a range of telescopes was made available, enabling participants to explore the wonders of the night sky in greater detail.
The session aimed to bridge classroom theory with real-world observation, nurturing a scientific curiosity in young astronomers. It also offered a unique family learning experience, allowing parents and students to explore the intricacies of the night sky together and fostering a shared appreciation for the universe.
The telescopic viewing session forms part of the Astronomy Club’s initiative to promote awareness and understanding of space science. Beyond organizing interactive events, the club also actively engages its members throughout the year by sharing weekly updates on latest space missions, astronomical discoveries, and developments in the field of astrophysics.
Building on the success of this program, the astronomy club aims to organize more interactive astronomy-related activities in the future, continuing its mission of inspiring young minds, fostering scientific inquiry, and nurturing a lifelong fascination with the universe.
