BOURNVITA CAKE | COCOA BURFI
Ingredients
All purpose flour: 1 cup
Bournvita: 1/2 cup
Ghee: 1/2 cup
Sugar: 1.5 cups
Water: 1/2 cup
Vanilla extract: 1/2 tsp
Procedure:
Dry roast the all purpose flour for a couple minutes (should not change color)
Add ghee and fry for a few minutes. The maida will be like a paste now
Keep this paste aside
Grease an 8" baking pan with ghee
Boil 2 tablespoons of water and mix the bournvita well and keep this aside
Add 1/2 water and sugar and boil until one string consistency is reached
Add the maida paste and stir well in medium flame
Switch off the flame once the mixture comes off the sides of the pan (The consistency should be semi solid)
Now finally add the bournvita mixture and stir well
Pour this into the greased pan and allow it to cool
While it is still warm, cut it with knife/pizza cutter
Notes:
If the burfi does not start to set within 10 minutes, transfer it again to the pan and cook for some more time
If using pure cocoa powder instead of bournvita, add only 2 tablespoons and also increase the sugar to 2 cups
