 Kuwait Sangatamil Kalai mandram celebrated ‘PONGAL FFESTIVAL 2023’.

WhatsApp Image 2023 01 18 at 7.32.42 PM 11zonKuwait Sangatamil Kalai mandram, one of the fore runners of the tamil associations in Kuwait , carrying out many programs for retaining the interest on Tamil language, culture and traditions among Tamil community living in Kuwait celebrated ‘PONGAL FFESTIVAL 2023’.

 It is for the  Farmer community who strive hard by practicing agriculture selflessly to feed the world; the nature which helps to make the agriculture possible and other living organisms directly or indirectly helps for the agriculture following the foot prints of our ancestors who worked for the uplift of our mother tongue by establishing the Benches (Sangam) a long ago and sacrificed their lives for saving our language. The festival was celebrated in ‘Sanam Farm’ in Abdaly, Kuwait.

 At 10:00 a.m., the ceremony was started with the Tamil Anthem sung by the children of the forum(mandram), in the presence of President of our Mandram Mr. Sami Sargunam, and the Advisor of the Mandram Mr. P. Shekhar Subsequently, Mandram cooked Pongal in a new Pot and performed Pujas to the Sun.

Sports competitions for couples, men, women, boys and girls were conducted. Music concert performed by Pillai Nila orchestra. traditional banana leaf feast was arranged  in a grand manner. The highlight of the event was ‘break the Pot’ competition held in the evening.

At the closing ceremony of the function, prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners and Participants of the Thirukkural recitation competition, Poem (Seyyul) recitation competition, speech competition, Tamil elocution and painting competition for the students who studying in the free Tamil class conducted by the Mandram every week by the in-charges of the office bearers of the Mandram and the Tamil class teachers

Secretary of the Mandram Mr. P. Muthukumar, Treasurer Mr. Gangaiseelan, Deputy President Mr.Ramesh Sarangapani and Deputy Treasurer Mr. Muthu Manikandan felicitated and  gave a special response to the Tamil class teachers.

More than two hundred Tamil people including seventy families living in different parts of Kuwait participated in this function. The chief Principal coordinator of the Mandram, Mrs. Vijayalakshmi Ramesh Kumar, the Coordinators Mrs.Sivasankari Gangaiseelan and Mrs. Nirmala Devi Tamilarasan Coordinated this event manner fully. A daily calendar for the year 2023 designed and published by the Mandram and presented to all the participants as a momentous.

The deputy Secretary of the Mandram, K. Vijaya Pandian anchored the event.
