INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF MILLETS 2023 OBSERVED IN ICSK AMMAN
The Indian Community School Kuwait, Amman observed International Year of Millets 2023 to raise awareness and increase the production and consumption of millets, as directed by the Embassy of India. Students took part in the online quiz competition on the topic Indian Millets. A competition on the theme Art with Millets was conducted in the school to celebrate IYM 2023 and to spread awareness on the benefits of millets. During the competition students displayed their creativity and artistic talents in their posters made using different types of millets grown in India. Students from classes KG to 8 took part in the campaign ' Millets in My Tiffin' and brought variety of millet dishes and snacks in their school tiffin boxes to taste and share the nutrition of millets. Staff members also participated by bringing and sharing creative millet cuisine. The programme and the activities showcased the need to grow and use the popularly grown crops as an imperative for climate resilient nutrition and sustainable development.
