 IES, BHAVANS HOSTS ITS SPRING CARNIVAL  

DSC 0291Indian Education School, Bhavans, Kuwait truly epitomized the charm of Kuwait by hosting ‘Hala February’ celebrations and Spring Carnival  ‘Hala Hala Gala’ on 24 February 2023 in the school premises. As the precincts of IES reverberated with the rhythmic extravaganza of Chendamelam, the Chairman of Bhavans Middle East, Mr. N.K Ramachandran Menon officially inaugurated the array of exciting events in the gracious presence of the Principal of IES, Mr. T Premkumar, the  Principal of SIS, Mr. Mahesh Iyer, the Vice Principals of IES and SIS.  

The prime sponsors of the day were Hala Multi Speciality Medical Centre, National Bank of Kuwait, Lulu, Abbott Laboratories, American Tourister, Al Mulla Exchange, Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Ruby Uniforms, Alumni of IES 2015, Mr. Mohamad Haroon Sakhi (Parent of IES), Mr. Joydeep (Parent of IES), Aradhya Krishnakumar (Student of IES) and Mr. Parvez (Transport Manager of IES). The representatives of the prime sponsors were cordially welcomed by the Principal, Mr. T. Premkumar. The chairman expressed his gratitude towards the sponsors by giving them mementos and the principal hatting them with carnival hats. The chairman and principal of IES extended a congenial welcome to all the students, parents, teachers, and well -wishers who flocked in to enjoy the day.  

To commemorate the Kuwait National & Liberation Day, the celebrations of ‘Hala Hala Gala’ started off with mesmerising dance performances on ‘Hala Feb’ theme songs by the students clad in red, green, white, and black. The school campus was decorated with colourful festoons, flags, posters, lights, and balloons in the colours of Kuwait National flag. The campus turned into a kaleidoscope that encompassed the rich and vibrant culture of Kuwait and instilled a true sense of joy in liberation. 

The grandiloquent orators manoeuvred the visitants to the multifarious venues of entertainment comprising various game stalls, Musical Concerts, Fashion Shows, DJ room, Green Corner, Crochet Stall, Henna Designing, Face Painting, Tattooing, Hair Colouring, Bouncy Rides and Balloons, White Elephant Stall and so on. The Haunted House, Escape Room, computer games and flash mobs kept the crowd busy. The surprise gifts and bumper prizes boosted the spirit and life of competition in the game stalls. The splendid talent show was a platform for the young and old to unleash their inherent talents. Fashion shows rich in theme, colour, and costume, categorised as: ‘Mums and Babes’, ‘Pally-Pally’, ‘Sibling-Doubling’, etc. invited praises and applause in plenty. The winners of these shows were accorded medals and prizes.  

The Food Courts showcased varied tastes of India and Arabia. There was an array of Arabian and South Indian dishes to savour in the Shawarma Point food stall. The aromatic live catering stall served piping hot Chicken Shawarma, Chicken Biriyani, Vegetable Biriyani, Kappa Biriyani, Uzhunnu Vada, Samosas, Chicken rolls etc.  The ‘Chaat Stall’ lent a North Indian flavour to the event.  

The rip-roaring eventful day came to an end when the visitors in anticipation swarmed into the proscenium for the raffle draw. The Principal, Mr T. Premkumar announced the names of almost fifty-plus winners on whom ‘Lady Luck’ had smiled. The winners rushed to amass the fabulous prizes. The Principal of IES, expressed his gratitude to the benefactor, the sponsors, and the well-wishers of HALA HALA GALA 2023. He also put on record his appreciation for the students, teachers, parents and the entire IES fraternity for the wonderful act of coming together, being together and working together as one. 

For IES, Bhavans Kuwait, the actions are more frequent than the words, and so their success becomes heavier than their dreams. The incessant and massive bouquets of plaudits received from the stakeholders on the carnival day stand testimony to the popularity of IES Bhavans in the sands of Arabia.
