Bhavans Indian Education School Conducts a Career Counselling Session
Bhavans Indian Education School organized an informative and interactive career counselling session on April 8, 2023 in the school auditorium exclusively for the students and parents of grades 10 & 11 to enhance their knowledge on various lucrative career choices.
The resource person for the day was Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal of Indian Education School, Bhavans Kuwait. Mr. T. Premkumar greeted the audience with a warm welcome. The Vice Principals, Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar and Mr. Binoy Mathew graced the occasion with their solemn presence. The session focused on course choices that can be taken up with different subject combinations after grade 12. With his academic acumen, the Principal spoke lucidly about new courses, colleges, and universities where students could pursue their higher studies. Courses related to engineering in Astronomy and Astrophysics, Ceramic Engineering, AI and Machine Learning, Robotics, Cyber Security, medical courses such as Siddha, Unani, Naturopathy, information on Hospital Management, Chartered Accountancy etc. were all discussed in detail along with the names of institutions that provide the courses. He further explained at length about the admission procedure to NITs and IIITs for NRI students. He meticulously answered all the queries raised especially on the effectiveness of online coaching, scholarship courses abroad, DASA and CIWG quota for NRI students.
The session was followed by a talk by the school counsellor Ms. Preethi K Nair on the topic ‘Mindful Parenting – Let’s connect’. The session was curated keeping in mind the students’ concerns related to their stress owing to parental pressures, lack of communication with parents and the need for emotional nutrition. She spoke in depth about the importance of self-reflection, emotional regulation when dealing with teenagers, setting boundaries, the need to listen with the intent to understand and the fact that parenting is to be seen as an opportunity to inspire and guide.
The career guidance session, under the leadership of the Principal, IES, Kuwait, Mr. T. Premkumar, was a grand success. Both the parents and students were grateful to the management for the excellent sessions that brought many new and unheard-of career paths to the fore along with the parental guidance.
