Bhavans Mock Parliament 2023 on the Women's Reservation Bill

453A9214In a rapidly progressing nation, historic moments are milestones that deserve recognition and review. With the aim to raise awareness and foster a sense of responsibility towards socio-political complexities, an engaging and insightful Mock Parliament 2023 session on the Women’s Reservation Bill of India was organised by Indian Education School, Kuwait, on Thursday, 23rd November 2023, in the school auditorium, under the aegis of the Department of Social Science for the students of grades 7 and 8.   

The event began with the welcome address by Amanna Binu George of 8A and was carried through by the emcees of the day, Reine Mary John of 8D and Gayathri C Padmanabhan of 8B. "The Mock Parliament session serves as an excellent platform for students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. It fosters critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork – essential skills for responsible citizenship,” stated Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal of Indian Education School, Kuwait, and Chief Guest, as he conveyed his best wishes to the participants.  

Through dynamic discussion and debate on the contentious topic of the Women’s Reservation Bill, selected students of grades 7 and 8 expressed their opinions on the critical issues tied to the bill. Arranged as a part of the Social Science curriculum, the session aimed at enhancing students' understanding of parliamentary procedures while encouraging them to explore and deliberate topics of societal concern in a professional manner. It was a spectacular showcase of Bhavanite spirit for democratic processes. The event concluded with a special reflection session during which students on the panel and from the audience shared the insights gained from the mock parliamentary debate followed by the Vote of Thanks by Anugraha Sam Ashok of 8D.    

Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice Principal Senior Wing, lauded the spectacular performance of the students on the dais. Mr. Binoy Mathew, Vice Principal Middle Wing, appreciated the commitment of the Social Science department towards holistic education and the guidance extended to the students by the teachers concerned. Ms. Muneera Mamikutty, Headmistress Primary, commended the enlightening experience facilitated by such activities. Indeed, The Mock Parliament 2023 on the Women’s Reservation Bill is a testament to Bhavans’ dedication towards nurturing well-rounded individuals ready to face the challenges of the future.
